My earliest memories are in the kitchen. Actually, they are in my grandmother's kitchen. There, where the smell of garlic always mingled with the smell of bleach, I remember sitting on her table as a little girl, gazing at the display of Delft china, while she spoonfed me soup. I was sick, as I often was, and she was doing what she did best: conveying her love through her food. She was a wonderful Italian cook who structured her day around shopping, preparing, plating, serving, and eating food. Food was a medium of tradition and love in our family. That tradition is one I've brought to my own kitchen. My children know the comfort of knowing that Mama's in the kitchen and all is right with the world. They also know they're welcome to join me there. Won't you gather with us too? Pull up a stool at the center island. We'll give you an apron and a cutting board!
Gorgeous! Simply gorgeous, Elizabeth! I will be spending a lot of time here!
